Backpacking and Leadership Do you want your student to become a leader? This unit will give your student the skills, character, and confidence to lead others. Using targeted leadership lessons, along with small group work, and daily challenges, students will learn to be decisive, take leadership, and overcome obsticles. During this Unit your student will learn skills such as: Gear selection, Staying warm and dry, Packing for a trip, Shelter building, Campsite selection and food storage, Backcountry cooking, Meal prep, Finding water, Basic knots, Wilderness first aid and risk management, Land navigation (maps, compass, protractors), and Making fires.
